Our Team

Sharon Langley

Sharon Langley is a story-teller.  She delights to tell stories that entertain and engage her readers.  With her picture book writing, she enjoys stories that interest and inform young listeners, young readers and their families.  Her first picture book, A RIDE TO REMEMBER (with Amy Nathan) tells the story of her family’s contribution to American civil rights.  Sharon has worked as an elementary school teacher, a literacy and instructional coach, and trainer/professional development facilitator.  She currently works as a school administrator.

Kara B. Wilson

Kara B. Wilson’s writing has been inspired by her small town roots, her travels abroad, her work with youth, and her life as a military spouse. She has written two picture books, a middle grade fiction novel and four stage plays.

 

Awards

Picture book manuscript, MOVING AGAIN, won Runner Up in SCBWI’s annual Writer’s and Illustrator’s Day Contest in Los Angeles.

Cheryl MacAller

Cheryl MacAller enjoys writing stories and poetry that leave children with a sense of joyful wonder. Her inspiration comes from walks in nature and random flights of fancy. After graduating with degrees in Cultural Anthropology & Archaeology, and Philosophy, she joined Teach For America where she spent two incredible years teaching kindergarten in the urban jungle of Chicago's south side. Upon completing Teach for America she returned to Los Angeles and has spent the last 9 years working as a Waldorf preschool teacher in sunny Santa Monica.

Christina McMahon

Christina is a writer, meditation teacher, and energy healer/counselor based in the LA area. Besides children's stories, she loves to write personal essays and articles about spirituality and self-transformation. At UC-Santa Barbara, she teaches classes on African and Caribbean theatre. She also leads mindfulness sessions at the Women's Center on campus. Christina is represented Jenna Pocius from Red Fox Literary.

Laurenne Sala

Laurenne Sala, author of You Made Me a Mother and You Made Me a Dad, is a storyteller, poet, and writer of everything from tv commercials to jokes to picture books. She loves blueberries, her cat Cheddar, riding her bike along the beach, and being a mom to her cute little baby, Lucía. Her next book, out from Candlewick 2021, is a bilingual exploration of home

Carolyn Kraft

Carolyn Kraft is a freelance communications consultant who works with clients to build engaged online communities and successful events through a variety of platforms. She is dedicated to helping individuals, nonprofits and businesses achieve success by telling their stories through creative content.

She has more than 16 years of experience in strategic communications, public relations, public affairs and community relations. Carolyn has worked with Fortune 500 companies, non-profits and small businesses to develop effective social media and public relations campaigns. While her background is in content development and social media management, Carolyn is also a blogger, published writer and aspiring children's book author.

Crystal Carter

​In middle school Crystal spent all her time drawing and writing comics. She couldn’t think of anything else she would rather be doing so she decided to pursue art and story telling as a career. She attended Pacific Northwest College of Art where she earned her BFA in Illustration. During her education she discovered many different illustration fields she feel in love with outside of comics. Since graduating Crystal has been working as a freelance illustrator and is pursuing writing as well.
